We stop by at Sapphire lounge for the Spring/Summer 2010 look book release party of New York based clothing line SABIT NYC. Established in 2005 and still being very young, SABIT has garnered a quick rise and have been showcased in magazines such as XXL, Complex and The Source. Shoichi Amemiya The man behind the line was once the former director of outerwear at Marc Ecko before venturing out on his own project. He has managed to infuse the quirkiness of Japanese fashion and fuse it with American sensibility to give their customer a unique take on ‘urban fashion’.
The line was presented as a mini film of models wearing unique outerwear paired with graphic tees. Today he can boast the likes of ‘Swizz Beatz’, the current face of SABIT and artist such as P. Diddy, 50 Cent, T.I., Chris Brown, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Ludacris, T.O.K. and Mos Def. The line is also inspired by Tanoshinde a Japanese philosophy meaning “enjoy”. Obviously this philosophy is infused in the collection because everyone seems to be enjoying it and we enjoyed it too!!
