Everyone remembers in 2008 when Proposition 8 appeared on the election ballot, which eliminated the right for same sex couples to marry. The Documentary, “ For Faith, For Love, Forever” explores the debate on same-sex marriage in the African-American community and provides compelling arguments for this type inclusion within the black church. The film features African-American pastors who speak openly about their reason for being in favor of Gay & Lesbian people’s right to marry and their full participation in the life of congregations. The film created dialogs and is scheduled to be used with congregations who are open to the topic as well as in academic and public settings. The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies will also us this film towards meeting our goal of advancing the well-being of LGBT People and to transform faith communities by shaping a new public discourse on religion and sexually through education, research, community building and advocacy.
On Wednesday, April 21, 2010 – the Center : the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center presented the screening of, For Faith, For Love; Forever: A Documentary of Marriage Equality Before & After 2008 Election. HomoCouture covered the screening to see what it was all about. Director Nefertiti A. Strong hopes to not only give exposure to such an important issue in society today but she is also focusing on making a change. For some of you its a change that may not concern you right now, but will become of your concern in the near future. I would like to stress the importance of creating a strong and everlasting platform in not only your lives, but others. As young Gay Men, we need to step up and fight for what is right. But most importantly lead by example so that OUR Future remains in our hands and not determined by others.

In other word just be AWARE and EDUCATE yourself!
